Today is 10 muharram, the day that has big history for Islam. On this date, long time ago Allah SWT saved his messenger Musa and Israel tribe from Fir'aun the king of Egypt. It is a winning of Musa against Allah's Enemies by sinking Firaun and his army in the red sea. 10 muharram also known as As-syura day. Muhammad always doing fasting on this date. It is not compulsory but it is strictly optional to fast on this date.
Besides that, 10 muharram also remembered as the date when Hassan and Hussain were killed.
